Kathryn Spinelli is a Coach and Associate at DaVinci Leadership. She's an expert leadership and talent development consultant with a background as a Human Resources and Talent Management Executive in multiple industries. Kathryn has broad experience in formal corporate leadership positions. She has worked as both an internal and external consultant and leadership coach for organizations ranging from large publicly traded multi-national organizations to mid-size privately held companies.
Kathryn’s consulting experience spans a wide variety of industries, including Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Mining, State Government, Travel, Insurance, Financial, Real Estate, and Healthcare. She has worked with leadership teams to improve their effectiveness, with HR leaders to design effective talent systems, and with leaders at all levels to provide 360 feedback and guide development.
Kathryn was formerly Vice President of Talent Management for Herman Miller (now MillerKnoll), leading executive, leadership and professional development; talent acquisition; compensation; benefits; payroll; and wellness functions. Herman Miller had been a consulting client of Kathryn’s before they recruited her to this full-time role.
Earlier corporate roles included leading the entire Kmart Corporation Human Resources function upon their successful emergence from their first bankruptcy. In this role, Kathryn sponsored the redesign of all aspects of the organization’s HR support for over 186,000 employees, at what was then one of the largest employers in the U.S. Prior to that, she served as Kmart’s Vice President of Corporate Training and Development, and as a Director for HR Generalists supporting major divisions.
Kathryn began her career in the High-Tech industry, originally in Marketing, but soon moving into Leadership Development, Organization Development, Change Management, and Strategic Human Resources roles for both Oracle Corporation and Electronic Data Systems, then a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation.
After leaving Kmart, Kathryn began her first transition into consulting and became a Master Associate of Lominger, which was later acquired by Korn Ferry Leadership and Talent Consulting. Projects included designing and helping to implement a wide range of practical HR and talent solutions that were based on best practices in leadership/ executive development, organization development, succession planning, selection, and alignment of strategy to HR practices.
With the return to her consulting role, Kathryn is again working with large and mid-size organizations, as well as a small non-profit. Her focus is on helping organizations implement best practices and research-based tools that support the development of their leaders, executives, and HR teams. She is a contributing author for several TalentTelligent tools, including comprehensive Development Guides and Interview Protocols for Managers and Individual Contributors.
An additional significant area of her practice is individual feedback and coaching, with a particular interest in helping leaders develop the resilience necessary to adjust, change and learn as they take on new roles and face challenges. She is certified in many assessments and other key leadership development tools, including all TalentTelligent offerings, MBTI, Hogan, ESCI, DiSC, KF 360, and the Pearman Personality Integrator.
